Frequently Asked Questions

How often do I need to see the dentist?

It is important to come in for regular check ups and exams about twice a year, or every 6 months. This will allow any potential issues to be caught early and prevents them from getting worse. Establishing a routine for preventive care will actually save you time and money in the long run. You will spend less time in the dental chair by taking care of minor issues before they turn into major, costly problems.

Is Teeth Whitening Safe?

Professional whitening is the safest whitening treatment available. At Fox Point Dental Studio, we will customize a treatment plan specifically for your smile to help you get your desired results without damaging your teeth. Some over-the-counter products like whitening strips, whitening toothpaste, and charcoal products can actually do more harm than good. They are abrasive and can strip your teeth of precious enamel, causing sensitivities and decay. It is best to leave whitening to the professionals and come see us for a brighter, healthier smile.

How can I prevent cavities?

The first step you can take to prevent cavities is to brush 2-3 times per day for at least 2 minutes per day, and floss at least once per day. This will ensure that plaque build-up is minimized, preventing potential decay. However, The best way to prevent cavities is to come in for regular, preventive exams and cleanings. During your cleaning, Dr. Krenzke will be able to remove plaque from the hard-to-reach areas that even meticulous brushing and flossing can’t reach.

What is periodontal disease?

Periodontal disease is unfortunately quite common, but usually preventable. It is an infection of the gums and surrounding structures which can cause swelling, bleeding, pain when chewing, and irreversible damage. The earliest stage of periodontal disease is gingivitis, which is treatable and preventable. By brushing, flossing, and coming to Fox Point Dental Studio for regular cleanings, you can prevent gingivitis and periodontal disease.
