Fluoride Treatments
Periodontal Care
The best way to protect your teeth and gums from dental health issues is to keep up with proper hygiene habits. However, routine dental visits are also critical to maintain optimal health. During these appointments, we’ll address small issues before they become bigger problems and clean hard-to-reach areas that can’t be cleaned even with meticulous brushing and flossing.
Professional cleanings from a trained hygienist will remove bacteria and plaque from every surface of your teeth.
Fluoride treatments can strengthen enamel and keep your teeth cavity-free.
Gum disease is a common issue, and our team will help you prevent this pervasive problem.
Cavities start with tooth decay, which are “soft spots” in your enamel. If decay is caught in its earliest stages, it can often be reversed with fluoride treatment. Fluoride is a naturally-occurring mineral that has the unique ability to “remineralize” and strengthen tooth enamel. During this treatment, one of our dentists will apply a highly-concentrated fluoride product onto your teeth and leave it in place for several minutes. This starts the remineralization process, restores softened enamel, and prevents cavities from forming.
This fast, non-invasive treatment is recommended for patients prone to cavities (typically pediatric patients). During the procedure, one of our dentists will apply a liquid dental resin to the chewing surfaces of your rear molars. The liquid will harden and form a durable barrier to prevent your teeth from directly contacting sugars, acid, and other harmful substances. Sealants can last up to 10 years, providing an extra layer of protection for teeth with a high risk of cavities.
More than half of American adults have some form of periodontal disease, though many aren’t aware that they suffer from this issue. Gum disease is often a result of poor oral hygiene, though genetics can also play a large role. This issue occurs when your gums become inflamed and infected after they are damaged by bacteria. At Fox Point Dental Studio, we offer preventive care to help you avoid this disease and we also offer treatment for those who suffer from the issue.
According to the American Dental Association, patients should visit the dentist every six months. This ensures that all surfaces of your teeth are cleaned and any harmful substances are removed from between your teeth and under your gums. Book an appointment today for preventive care to maintain a healthy, strong smile for years to come.
Cavities can often go undetected because the beginning stages of tooth decay are often difficult to notice. For this reason, preventive care is critical to address cavities before they become bigger, painful, more costly issues. Signs of larger cavities include toothaches, tooth sensitivity, and visible holes or pits in your teeth. If you notice any of these signs or if you would like to schedule a preventive appointment, give us a call today at (414) 236-5885
The earliest stage of gum disease, known as gingivitis, is characterized by inflamed gums that bleed when you brush or floss. Other signs of periodontal disease include a receding gum line or teeth that appear longer, bad breath that won’t go away, pain when chewing, and swollen gums. If you notice any of these symptoms, give us a call to discuss your options for treatment!
