Whether you have a minor to severe case of dental anxiety, sedation can help keep you calm.
We offer many different sedation methods including laughing gas, and IV sedation to meet the needs of every patient.
Sedation is available to treat more than just anxiety. It can minimize gag reflexes, make it easier to sit still, and reduce pain.
Laughing gas is a sedative that is inhaled through a comfortable nose mask during treatment, and it is typically used to treat minor levels of dental anxiety. When you are under the effect of laughing gas, you will feel giddy and euphoric, and you will be responsive throughout your treatment. One of the biggest benefits of sedation with laughing gas is that the effects wear off very quickly, which means that you are able to drive yourself home after your appointment and enjoy the rest of your day as your normally would.
This sedation option is typically reserved for patients who will be undergoing surgery or extensive treatment. If you are visiting to remove an impacted wisdom tooth, IV sedation will most likely be used during your procedure. IV sedation and general anesthesia are closely monitored throughout your procedure to ensure that you receive the proper dosage at all times to keep you comfortable. You won't be fully asleep during your procedure, but the sedative will make you feel very groggy.
If you think that sedation will help you relax in the dentist’s chair and have a more enjoyable experience in our office, we offer a free sedation consultation to help you determine which options will work best for you. Typically, we suggest laughing gas for minor cases of dental anxiety. Oral conscious is often used to treat moderate to severe anxiety or for patients who will need oral surgery.
